One of the things I learned from my parents is how important it is to begin each day with prayer. Those prayers were simple – just a few words, but they were words that mattered. And I’ve made it a part of my life.
For some, prayer may be very formal–a ritual that fulfills an obligation. For some, it is barely spoken as they silence the alarm and hit the ground running. I know someone who says he prays in the shower each morning, and someone else who says she doesn’t say anything to anyone, including God, until she has her coffee cup in hand.

Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Md., has a new president. Anthony Stahl, the former president and CEO of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marco, Texas, today becomes the president of Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center. Stahl replaces Erik Wangsness who left the role to become the CEO of AdventHealth Wesley Chapel in September.

The deliveries were extra special at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center on Feb. 29, as our Birth Center team helped local moms welcome leap year babies. On leap day 2020, Shady Grove doctors and nurses delivered 7 babies whose next birthdays won’t be on the calendar for four more years.

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rating is based on quality and performance measures as compared to over 4,000 hospitals across the country. Less than 9% of hospitals received five stars. Shady Grove Medical Center is the only hospital in Montgomery County, and one of eight in Maryland, to receive the distinction.
"This achievement represents years of hard work at every level of our organization," said Dan Cochran, president of Shady Grove Medical Center. "This five-star distinction is truly the mark of people and processes coming together to make sure our patients have the safest, highest quality care."
