This year’s Visionaries Gala, held Sept. 22, at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., was an overwhelming success, based on feedback from the honorees and attendees. The primary focus of the annual gala is to raise funds to support the many scholarships Washington Adventist University (WAU) offers to our students annually. We aim to reduce or eliminate student debt at WAU to help our students become competent moral leaders who can effectively serve their communities.

Story by Washington Adventist University Staff

Washington Adventist University (WAU) had not planned any mission trips last school year, but during service day in the fall, conversations with students revealed an interest in planning a trip. A Salvadoran student mentioned that El Salvador was building a Seventh-day Adventist College and suggested they could help with the project. This idea sparked interest, leading to research on the Adventist college.

Last week the Washington Adventist University Honors College led a delegation of 18 high school students to The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) conference in The Hague, Netherlands. The students are all from Columbia Union Academies and will represent Lithuania and Samoa at the conference. THIMUN, one of the oldest and largest MUN conferences in the world, attracts more than 2,000 student delegates from international schools all around the world. This is the second year that students from the Columbia Union will attend the conference and they are the only delegation from Seventh-day Adventist Schools.
